The Tallahassee Community College
CFP® Certification Professional Education Program
is comprised of six individual classes to make up the curriculum, both online and
traditional. The materials include a CFP Board required textbook, Zahn supplemental
classroom materials, and individual module flashcards.
The online classes are based on the ten lessons of instruction, both classroom and
textbook style. The viewing will include video and PowerPoint. Your instructor will
be Ken Zahn. Each section is timed, so the student will know ahead the specific
time allotment necessary to allow for time management purposes.
We highly recommend taking the individual module in order of the series as they
tend to build on each other. The individual modules are described under Course Material.
Grading is based on ten quizzes, two case studies, final exam, and a final paper.
- The quizzes vary in length ranging from four to twenty questions each.
- The cases have approximately fifteen questions each.
- The final exams range from fifty to sixty questions each.
- The paper is to help us understand that the student does in fact have a solid
understanding of the module.
Recommended Calculators: The program is designed with keystrokes and supports
the following calculators. Each of the calculators has been upgraded, but either
version will suffice.
- HP 10BII (Plus)
- HP 12C (Platinum)
- HP 17BII (Plus)
When choosing one of the three above calculator selection, keep in mind the note
below from the CFP Board and find a calculator that you feel comfortable with for
the classes. The calculator should not be your enemy.
Please Note from the CFP Board: Effective immediately and beginning with the July
2008 examination, students will be advised that programming functions on a programmable
calculator are not to be used and calculators are to be cleared of all programmed
formulas prior to each section of the examination. Calculators are subject to inspection
by proctors and violation of this policy will result in removal from the examination
and forfeiture of the exam registration fee.
